2023 Tannat

WINEMAKER NOTES

Tannat is a bold red variety with a long and fascinating history. Originally from the Madiran region of southwest France, Tannat takes its name from the French word tannin, a nod to the grape’s naturally firm structure. In recent decades, it has also gained international recognition in Uruguay, where it has become the country’s signature grape. Known for producing deeply colored, age-worthy wines, Tannat rewards patience and careful winemaking.  It’s also making a name for itself in Texas.

This expression of Tannat showcases the variety’s intensity while maintaining balance and approachability. Bright acidity lifts aromatic notes of rich red fruits, while the palate delivers concentrated flavors of dark berries. Moderate tannins provide structure without overwhelming the fruit, creating a wine that is enjoyable now but also well suited for aging over the coming years.
