2022 Merlot

I love Merlot.  It is a grape variety that can show itself in so many ways.  Sometimes it can be ever so soft and subtle, with fine tannins that seduce you back for another glass…and another.  Other times it can be bold, with firm tannins and intense fruit, a wine that ages beautifully for decades.  Regardless of character, I have always been taken with Merlot.  In my opinion there are few varieties that blend as well with others.  There is indeed a reason this variety has long found a home in some of the most prestigious and expensive wines in the world, such as Château Pétrus located in the Pomeral region of Bordeaux, France.  Though our 2022 Merlot will likely not reach the iconic status of its Bordeaux brethren (nor the pricing), I do feel this vintage is the best example of Merlot I have had the good fortune to make.
